Freesia laxa Joan Evans Cremastra reddish prunes with the tops(Aka: Anomatheca laxa, Lapeirousia laxa) Freesia laxa 'Joan Evans' is a delightful color variant of the typically scarlet red South African false freesia. The tiny green iris like foliage emerges in late winter, forming a small, but fast offsetting clump, topped, starting for us in April with lovely small white flowers, each highlighted with a dramatic red blotch. Dry soils in either part sun or part shade are best, and is a great rock garden plant.
